In 2006, the Westfjords Nature Center was responsible for large-scale research projects to benefit municipalities and institutions in the region. The observations and surveys carried out covered a vast and varied material, including vegetation surveys for tunnel construction, environmental impact assessments, archaeological surveys, archeological records, surveys on senior citizens’ issues, a frequency distribution of flowering plants, birdlife, small animal life, and archeological research on whale hunting and a study of wildlife on the shores to sum it up roughly.
